The Village Academy Pre-Kindergarten Program promotes kindergarten readiness through creative and active play for children ages 2 1/2 years and older.
The Village Academy Pre-Kindergarten Program, presented in Griffin Hall, a state-of-the-art facility specifically designed to encourage lifelong learning and the development of academic skills. This unique and appealing program is based on Mastery through Exploration and is the foundation for developing resourceful, independent thinkers. Learning through real-life experience, problem solving, self-directed, creative, and innovative projects allows for the creation of real knowledge. Village Academy Pre-K students learn through hands-on experiments, risk-taking, and cooperative learning. As a result students are better prepared for analytical and critical thinking challenges as they prepare for the next level at Village Academy.
The program, taught by certified teachers, also encourages the development of social and personal milestones such as making friends, sharing, teamwork, and building confidence. Additionally, the introduction of Mandarin Chinese and Spanish in pre-kindergarten promotes a shared cultural experience in a diverse environment.
As a part of the main campus, the Pre-Kindergarten students have the advantage of utilizing not only the arts conservatory, gymnasium and stage areas for cultural and physical education activities and performances, but also participating with some of the older students in “Cheerlittles”, which is cheerleading for younger students, basketball and soccer camps, introduction to robotics, and other mini workshops led by upper school students.
