The Village Academy Mock Trial team competed in the regional tournament on Friday, February 21. The VA team defeated Dublin Jerome in the morning, but late fell to the Westerville North team who will compete in the state tournament for the second year in a row.

Mock Trial “Best Witness” awards were won by Dominic Ritchey and Ian Smith and “Best Lawyer” was awarded to Adam Crawford. Congratulations to the entire VA Mock Trail team and special thanks to seniors, Ian Smith, Dominic Ritchey, Agneeth Mazumder and Emma Clark for making it the regional tournament.

Ohio Mock Trail is a competition instructed by teachers and volunteer legal advisors. Students learn about the law and how the legal system works by participating in a simulated trial written by real attorneys. The students are in real courtrooms across the state and argue both sides of the case. Each year the state finals are held at the Ohio Statehouse and the state winner then advances to the national competition. VA is proud to have had our team succeed to the Regional level. Congratulations!
