The Village Academy Pre-Kindergarten Program promotes kindergarten readiness through creative and active play for children ages 2 1/2 years and older.
This unique and appealing program is used to identify and nurture the passion of each student and establish a love of learning and exploration at an early age. The program, taught by certified teachers, encourages the development of social and personal milestones such as making friends, sharing, teamwork, and building confidence.
The Village Academy Pre-Kindergarten Program, presented in the new state-of-the-art Griffin Hall, is specifically designed to encourage lifelong learning and the development of academic skills through self-initiated and directed activities and recreation. Activities are purpose-driven and designed to develop fine or gross motor skills, strengthen independence, and enhance creative thinking skills. For example, students may discover an interest in science through hands-on experiences such as building circuits and robots or studying plant and animal life in the Griffin Hall garden. Additionally, the introduction to Mandarin Chinese and Spanish in pre-kindergarten promotes a shared cultural experience in a diverse environment.
As a part of the main campus, the Pre-Kindergarten students have the advantage of utilizing not only the arts conservatory, gymnasium and stage areas for cultural and physical education activities and performances, but also participating with some of the older students in “Cheerlittles”, which is cheerleading for younger students, basketball and soccer camps, introductions to robotics, and other mini workshops led by upper school students.
The Advancement through Mastery approach may also be available to select students whose academic skills allow them to be challenged at a higher level.
