“Village Academy Schools seek to educate college-bound students who not only wish to become self-fulfilled individuals but also to function as responsible, compassionate citizens of the world.”
The 20 graduates of the Class of 2017 received over 4.5 million dollars in scholarship offers.
The College Counseling program at Village Academy provides a personal experience for students and their families. The focus is on each student and his/her talents, interests, and needs. Students are encouraged to be active participants in the counseling program, and are guided through the process from their initial college explorations to the final decision regarding applications and enrollment. Both parents and students have access to the College Counseling Corner, an online resource exclusively for Village Academy families, with a breadth of up-to-date information including visit and scholarship opportunities to assist in navigating through the complex collegiate process.
College Counseling begins in eighth grade. The college counselor meets with students to discuss expectations about Upper School and the importance of maximizing their Upper School experience, to make recommendations about how to start their personal resume, and to apprise them of college entrance requirements. Parent/student meetings during the freshman and sophomore years provide insight into the college process, and build to intensive work in the junior and senior year. Students are supported when it comes to setting priorities and reviewing timelines, standardized testing, submitting successful applications, earning recommendations from faculty, organizing campus visits, selecting a balanced and realistic list of schools, college essay writing, submitting portfolios, meeting deadlines, scholarship opportunities, college interviews, and financial aid opportunities. The college counselor is a strong advocate for students, and is a partner to families to support and act as a guide in the collegiate process for Village Academy graduates.
Historically, Village Academy has had 100% college placement and significantly higher test scores than the Ohio and national averages on both the SAT and ACT.
